I "helicopter" my boys on their regular 1/2 nylon/leather accent BB leashes often. Usually it's only a few inches off the ground to get them out of something naughty. We had a scary encounter with an angry dachshund (sorry Buddy) and I swung my boys with their leashes like a carnival ride in the air. My boys are 9.0 pounds and 8 pound, 6 ounces.
I don't think you need the larger clip and it may be a bit cumbersome. Let me see if I can find a picture for you.
