Default New from Oregon

Hello! I found this site looking for help for my dachshund. Her back legs went out and I needed a pattern for a diaper. I finally did get the diaper figured out. She is also doing better. This is a very informative site, thank you for putting all this wonderful information out there for others.

We live in Oregon, on 15 acres, my hubby says we have farm dogs, lol.

We have always had dachshunds, but my mom was given a yorkie for her birthday, which I fell in love with, so I had to have one.

I found Nico. She came with a story of, young girl wanting a pretty little dog and then did not know what to do with her. She had her for 2 days then listed her for sale in the newspaper. Which we did not know this at the time we bought her. It was a horrible snowing day, my hubby and I drove to meet and check out this little ball of fluff. The weather was so bad, they shut the freeway right behind us as we were coming home. We brought the little skinny ball of fluff with us. The poor little girl was so malnourished, our vet told us if we had not gotten to her when we did..... let’s just say she is beautiful and healthy now. We contacted the breeder to get the papers for registration. she mentioned the girl only had her for a few days. I told her that Nico was in horrible shape, and the vet was very upset how she had been treated.
Well let’s just say we never did get Nico registered, I think we made her mad. She came to us at 2.78 pounds at 5 months with very little hair. She is now close to 7 pounds, with tons of beautiful silver and tan hair.

We or should say “I” decided Nico needed another brother. We had a male and female of the dachshunds. I knew the first person to call for a puppy. I called the breeder where Nico came from. I thought maybe we could save another puppy. Yes she had a male, he was 8 months old. I could not get there fast enough. Thank goodness my husband loves me, lol. We went that night, OMG there was this little tiny puppy running around with a t-shirt. We took Nico with us, and we got to meet her sister. WOW!!! What a difference, Nico's sister looked just like she did when we first got her. How sad. She did weigh close to 5 pounds for breeding. The breeder could not believe that Nico was from one of her litters. I did not think twice, we took the little guy home with us. She promised she would get the registration papers for us, that never happened. Not a big deal though. We got the new guy to the vet the very next day, started with all the shots, he weighed in at 3.45 pounds at 8 months. He also has this sneezing sound(?) sounds like he can't catch his breath or like a pig. Scared me. But the vet says he has a short something in his nose, they found it when they neutered him and used the anesthesia. He is a healthy 4.8 pounds and he has beautiful long hair now, he is much smaller then Nico in height.

So sorry to carry on, I love my dogs, they follow me where ever I go. The new one, Ramzes, he is such a hoot. His personality is very fun. He is so cute when he taunts his Auntie Nico to play. His little tail wagging and his butt in the air.

I did call the breeder yesterday looking for another puppy, this one from my daughter in law, she has Pomeranians now.

And I did talk to the AKC group about the condidtion of the puppies and they told me they could not do anything.

I look forward to further information on this site, and meeting some of you.
