Use a wet wash cloth, wrung out well - not dripping wet, and wipe him down, avoiding the incision area. Use a fine tooth comb and comb generously.
Max had to go about 6 weeks without having his head washed when he had eye problems and this helped a lot -- and he is in full coat.
