Feeding I have two small yorkies, one is 3 lbs. and the other is 4 lbs. The younger one, Gidget, has been very sick with a "nasty" infection to quote the Vet. She took a round of amox and is SO much better. While she was sick, I was told to cook her plain chicken and hamburger meat and along with this I gave her plain yogurt which she loves. Now that she is well, the Vet recommended that I feed my girls a prescription dry food and a canned food. (Gidget, it seems, has a sensitive stomach.) However, since they have been eating "people" food, guess what? They don't want anything to do with the dry food and are not crazy about the canned. Gidget has always had a problem with hypoglycemia and consequently, I'm not comfortable with putting the food down and waiting till they are hungry enough to eat it. So, do any of you long-time yorkie owners have any suggestions on what I should do to get them to eat so that I can keep them well. I am a Realtor and need to have a simple but nutritious feeding plan for them as I am in and out of the house when working. |
