Jack didn't even own a dog collar until recently. One of the posts I read was about a yorkie that had gotten out of the house and was missing. His "mom" was frantically looking for him and some of the posts said something about his collar and tags - if someone found him, they would hopefully call and return him. Missing yorkie's mom stated she didn't have a collar or tags on him so no one would know who he belonged to. It was that post that made me go get a collar and tag for Jack - he's not a fan of it - went almost 3 years without a collar, but I wanted him to have some kind of ID on him. We have not yet had him microchiped - I didn't think about it when he was neutered - my vet said because he is so small, she would rather do his microchip while he is under anesthesia and I don't want him to undergo that unless there is some other reason - like a dental but his teeth have been really good - so we are waiting. Anyway, he now wears a collar, just in case he sees a squirrel outside and decides to chase it.... (we are always with him outside but he doesn't always have a leash on)
