Ticks have to be actively feeding on the dog for 24 hours in order to transmit the disease. The topicals kill the ticks only after they bite the dog.

It sounds like she may be coming down with something, and may be running a fever on and off. Is she eating and drinking normally? Or maybe feeling the heat from this crazy weather..... It takes two weeks after a tick bite to develope the disease to have it tested... but if she continues not acting right, maybe best to have your vet examine her.
