It is the deer that carries the tick that causes lyme disease. Hosts for deer tick also include certain mice.

I'd call your vet and just see whether they think you need to bring her in. We have this issue here and knock on wood I've never pulled a tick off any of my dogs. However, if she's on meds, then the tick probably would die before it has had ample time to stay attached to transmit the disease, although I know of two people whose dogs got lyme disease while on prevention AND were vaccinated. To my knowledge, lone star ticks are not vectors of lyme disease.
