ZoE had very strong colour on her face (and legs) too, and I'd hoped that would mean she'd stay black & tan, cos I personally love the black & tan adult yorkies. As she was the pup her breeder had initially chosen to keep, I should have known better, and now at just over a year old, she's now getting lighter & going more gold in the face and her black coat is lightening up too. I won't trim her (other than ears, feet & sanitary), cos I want to keep the darker toned tips for as long as possible
