Here are also discussions of the current practice of chewing for your children.
Moms, do you pre-chew food and give it to your babies to eat? - Yahoo! Answers
Is it common for a mom to chew up her babies food? - Yahoo! Answers
Mother in Law feeds pre-chewed food to the baby!? - Yahoo! Answers
In your first link it says, "When the children were babies, mothers cared a great deal for their health and made sure that they could chew and swallow their food. In order to make it easier, mothers of the tribe would chew the food first to break it down, and then give it to the infant to digest easier."

This child is neither an infant nor a baby, he's a toddler, and he looks like he has plenty of teeth of his own. There are plenty of soft finger foods available; you don’t need a food processor. Furthermore, if a mother did chew it up, I'd prefer she put it down, and give it with her hands or utensil. Your article says nothing about the mouth to mouth feeding. Again, I'm not condemning cultures for doing this, there are cultures where many things are done that I think are wrong in a civilized society. I find it hard to believe that she thinks this is healthy for her child and I think it’s really seriously harmful for him. I wonder if she did this for publicity? As far as the Yahoo answers, they don't really support it either. If you think it's okay, that's your right, but I feel like you are telling me, I shouldn't judge what's she's doing, and I feel like it's okay for me to judge what she's doing. I really think she needs help, she needs to learn this child is NOT an extension of herself.
