I don't necessarily agree with or see the need for feeding this way in today's society, but I don't believe it harmed the psyche of hundreds of thousands of our ancestors over the ages either. The history books don't give any indication that the original inhabitants of America were "screwed" because they were fed this way.
Just my way of saying - be careful judging what worked for an entire culture many of us are descended from. |
We also use to breastfeed 5 year olds, yes, things have changed, and I'm not judging any cultures, I'm judging Alicia for doing this and the fact that she allowed this to be filmed. The boy will always have this hanging over his head. It's really important for parents to teach boundaries for their children, she needs to learn some. Granted if everyone else is doing this in order to survive, it's not as bad. By the way, I've never read of this before, where did you learn that the Indians did this? I've read about so many primative cultures and never have read about this.
