Native American Indians spent centuries chewing food for their babies in order for them to be able to eat. Of course this was long before "progress" and "technology" and "experts" came around to tell them how they lived was "Icky."
I don't necessarily agree with or see the need for feeding this way in today's society, but I don't believe it harmed the psyche of hundreds of thousands of our ancestors over the ages either. The history books don't give any indication that the original inhabitants of America were "screwed" because they were fed this way.
Just my way of saying - be careful judging what worked for an entire culture many of us are descended from.
