Our beloved 4 year old Polo passed away on March 15 suddenly and tragically. Our family has been having a really hard time dealing with death, especially my husband. He was a huge part of our family and without him we all feel lost. Its been very hard.
On March 15, 2012, my son came home from school and when he opened the door, Polo was there to greet him as always, but someone was missing. My other son was still outside with his Grandpa. So Polo ran outside to greet my other son. My other son was still in the process of getting out of the car and my dog ran to the door and then proceeded to run to the driver side of the door to see my father in law and was hit by a car.
It happened very suddenly. My husband tried everything he possibly could to revive our Polo. He did CPR and chest massages for 30 minutes. There was nothing we could do to save him. He has all ready passed and it broke our hearts.
My husband went through and is still going through a deep depression. It has been very hard and we just do not know how to deal with it. His Mom bought a new puppy for us ( she is still not ready to leave her Mom yet though) and we dont know how to feel about it. My kids are excited for a new pup, but me and my husband feel guilt. :/
I am just wondering, if anyone else suddenly bought a new pup after the loss of their dog and how it worked out for them? I know I will love the puppy when it comes and most likely be super overprotective, but does it help with the mourning of your first dog?
