I feed my adult dogs twice a day. They get a home cooked meal and kibble and treats too. None of them are over weight. The trick is to feed proper portion size of each item. My dogs eat in their crate. That helps me know who eats what and how much. (The dogs are different ages etc.. so they don't all eat the same food)
For Breakfast they eat, 1/4 cup kibble, 1/8 cup cooked meat, 1/8 cup of raw, cooked, or steamed Veggies.
Training Treats are cut into tiny one bite size (the size of a pea) and are home made jerky, sweet potato, raw apple, raw carrot, raw green beans and other tiny tasty things.
Evening meal is 1/4 cup kibble sprinkled with either teaspoon of Parmesan cheese, a teaspoon of cooked brown rice, scrambled egg, a teaspoon plain yogurt, teaspoon cooked rolled oats, teaspoon of fat free cottage cheese etc.
