Hi , the "wait" command works really well for this sort of thing.
It basically just takes a lot of practice .
If you have someone to work with you it makes it a lot easier.
Have someone ring the doorbell, put your dog in the sit position and say
"wait", approach the door slowly, all the while hold your hand up palm facing the dog, if she moves just say something like uh uh, if she remains still slowly open the door, say wait again, let the person in, close the door then say ok, good girl..
Just keep practicing this till she learns to wait... |
