Is he neutered? If not he will be more territorial and you could have a problem. My friend had an unaltered shihtzu who already did some marking in the house. After the baby he started going in the house more and also became somewhat aggressive, nipping at the baby, she says NOT in a playful way. The dog had to go because the vet said once he started biting (NOT serious bites, but I think he may have left a small mark-when the baby was about 2). I think as time went by he got more and more jealous.....
The mother of the baby had some health issues and the baby was very small do the two things combined made it hard to also give the dog the attention he needed. I think you need to make sure the dog does not resent the baby. My friend already had some issues with the dog, so hopefully yours is better trained. For instance, if she discovered a pee spot....hours after he did it she would punish him by putting him in the small laundry room and yelling at him. I tried to tell her he didn't know why she was doing that, but she didn't believe me. Since he pee'd more after the baby he got punished more and so on. I also told her to get him fixed, but I think the hubby had issues with that....

I think most dogs/babies are fine. Just keep your eyes on them and give the doggie lots loving when the baby is there.

Can you try treats when he is quiet...reward for NOT barking at baby? In his mind he might be warning you guys of an intruder. I say don't punish or he may associate baby with punishment which won't help him lover her.
