I read Joy's post with great dismay. I too was at that Brenda seminar, and might I add, the difference she made in the dogs was not only remarkable, but humane and gob-smacking. I saw her do nothing that made me worry for a dog - I simply saw her make them all improve one by one. Improvements were larger for some dogs than others, depending on teh skill of hte handler.

Brenda is a terrier woman, and her jokes about terriers are numerous. I too am a terrier owner, and personally, I thought her poking fun of my dog's flaws was entertaining. She understands these little beasties and is really funny to listen to.

And as for Brenda trashing other trainers, she gave credit to Tuurid for her wonderful work - while Brenda might be incredibly witty and funny, she is also professional.

Her methods have not changed. She is still the same old Brenda, and has adapted and evolved as we would all expect. Is she heavier handed on dogs? Definitely not.

Out of all of the working dogs, so far I have received heart felt thanks from six of the working dog participants, and almost a third of the audience. Most want to come back next year.

What I find most despicable about Joy's post is that she decided to trash Brenda on the net. Brenda said repeatedly that if anyone was uncomfortable with what she was doing, to please let her know. There is nothing worse than people who stand by silently, and then preach to the rest of the world about their own perceptions. If something had have been said at the seminar, in the open and welcoming forum, it could have been explained and understood - or even disagreed respectfully. But to take it to this forum is simply slander and should not be allowed.
