Hello, welcome to YT. We live about 12 miles from Manhattan. My daughter wanted a Yorkie and after her research found 2 breeders. One had a 5 1/2 month PUP. We took the 1-2 hour ride. The breeder was a nice lady, clean enviorment, other pups well take care of. We fell in love 30 seconds after holding him. He is 9 months old now. We would never purchase a pup without seeing where he came from. We also paid more than some of the prices mentioned. Well worth it though.
Good luck at look around, you should be able to find a breeder.
