Hi folks

I have a 3 1/2 year old yorkie, Pixie, who had surgery for a Luxating Patella on Feb. 14/12 -- about 5.5 weeks ago. How long should it take to be able to go for walks of a few blocks without being in major pain that evening? It was a Grade 3-4. I am wondering now if I was premature and feel guilty but she was in pain before and the kneecap seemed to lock out more often than not. As it is now I can't let her go for walks at all -- in house walking around seems all she can manage and even then she limps. Am I expecting too much too soon -- hope you have positive news!

Also do you recommend asking the vet for any pain medicine? It is hard seeing her in pain.
