My understanding is that a true fig tree is poisonous, while the common ficus is not -- our trees don't produce fruit. The vet yesterday said a ficus leaf can cause GI upset, and I have read sources that say indoor ficus trees can be a respiratory irritant to humans . We have had the same trees for 35 years. Although I'm pretty sure that the ficus was not the cause of Max's problem, I would still recommend caution to anyone with dogs and houseplants. |
To everyone's relief, I'm always quiet, too, when I have a sore throat. Tell Mr. Max we said to get well soon, so he can bark and boss his brother around.
