Hi Jilly,

My little Sophie Kate has CT, we found out when she was probably around 6 months old. My Vet is not sure how this happened since we did know her breeder (at the time) and Sophie Kate had a very severe bout with Pneumonia when she was 4 months old which may have caused it.
She is not on a daily medication and we control it through diet and exercise (for now). I just have to be very careful and remember to walk her daily and not over feed her. Also checking the progress is part of her yearly examination.

Regarding the dental, how old is your little guy? Having ten teeth pulled is A LOT (but it is good that you are doing dentals). I cannot speak for a Yorkie but my cat had his dentals in December and lost 4 teeth and the answer is yes, sometimes his tongue does stick out. It's kind of cute because it is usually when he is sleeping.

I will remind you to make sure your little guy can continue on his same kibble after the dentals. I was not thinking with my cat and did not change his food and the poor guy lost so much weight, so fast it scared me to death.

Good luck and I hope this provides you some answers.
