I don't believe it's true that dry food helps to get rid of tartar. I don't know how it could. I wouldn't worry about trying to get her to eat dry food. I imagine it would be painful for her to try to chew without many teeth. I would just be happy that she's eating the canned food well. Brushing her teeth regularly and keeping her mouth clean will do more good for her teeth than anything else you could do. I'm glad she has a good home now.
