My worst two walk better together on retractable leashes. I had stopped using the retractables, but bc we're off the beaten path I can give them a little bit of freedom, as I never let them go off leash completely. Just too many hazards!
On regular leashes, I have to tie a knot in them as my hands are smallish. The knot snugs the handhold so it will stay on my hand even if I let it go.
Also, I stand with the dogs, then choke up on the leashes so they're all about even before we begin walking. I keep them on a short leash until they start to get a little tired, then I loosen up a few inches at a time, if they're acting right. |
