I encourage my "parents" to wait until between 6-8 months old...that is before they get sexually active and the baby teeth that remain can be removed then. Important to have a vet that is familiar with Yorkies and their anesthesia requirements...gas anesthesia, no barbituates, etc. I always insist that my babies have an IV not only through the procedure, but until I get there to pick thm up...I want them "tanked up" with fluid and sugar so that when they get home and dont feel like eating and drinking for 24 hours, they are not dehydrated....and it is common for Yorkies blood sugar to drop from stress of surgery, as well as drop in body temp.
