Yes the guy was legitimate. I also looked up codes for my city and they are now requiring the micro chip, so that is accurate.
I live in Riverside, California. All I can say is California...one of the most regulated states there are...we have laws up the wazoo.
I guess I was just taken back when the guy showed up yesterday. I mean Copper is neutered (also required unless you are a "known" breeder what ever the heck that means) has all his shots, rabies, etc. and licensed. I have complied with the law. He wears a collar with his name and my information. He weighs 4 lbs, is not vicious and is in the house or with me or a responsible caregiver. I realize he could get lost through unusual circumstances. But come on...what more can you ask of us as pet owners?
I have decided to wait a while before I micro chip him. It still bugs me to do this. |
Is the city helping people to pay for this expense? I mean the actual microchip is not that much but by the time someone has to pay for a vet visit and other added things that need to be done it can be costly. It seems like they should set up a microchip clinic for people who cannot afford the added expense since they are requiring people to do this. How long do you have to comply with this law?
