Okay...so, your family refer to your fur babies as "just dogs"...and do they refer to themselves as "only human" too?

Seriously, though, I am so truly sorry they do not share their love with the animals who would love them back more than they will probably ever know, and that you have to experience this behavior from those you care about. It borders on being a 'hostage' situation...you almost feel you have to choose between your family and your fur kids. However, I prefer the company of "just dogs" (and "just cats") to the "only human" behavior that is so prevalent, and the expression so misused to dismiss their abismal actions and disrepect for other living creatures. Sounds to me you may have already made some 'right' choices for yourself. My best to you. Take care!
