I have been an "animal person" since I was very young. I remember being upset because the birds would fly away and not let me pet them. I just did not understand why they didn't see that I wouldn't hurt them!

My family has always liked animals but i guess I was over the edge about them. I wanted to bring home every stray cat or dog I found and if a bird or squirrel fell out of it's nest too early I was the one to rescue them. All that was just too much as far as my family was concerned. I was "too sensitive" about these things as far as my family was concerned. People who love their pets and really relate to them are not the norm as far as I can tell. I think most people like animals but are not going to make many sacrifices for them. I have always thought that it is our responsibility to take care of those who can't help themselves, both human and animal.

I just think it is something that is inborn for some people and the others that don't have "it" will just never understand it.
