Thank you for posting the warning and the encouragement not to give up on a pet who appears dead.

This is one reason I make sure Gracie has safe things to chew on so she will not be tempted to chew something that could very well kill her. There is just day that we can take for granted the safety of these babies.

In the past I did show and breed Himalayan cats that sometimes would have difficulty in birthing. Sometimes a kitten would be born appearing to be dead. I would have the heating pad handy, clear the airway, give them mouth to nose ventilations and very light chest compressions. I was able to save all but one and that one had been dead for a while before it was delivered. I was a paramedic and a nurse but I would say my paramedic training was more helpful in those cases.

I agree. It is possible to restart a heart and get the lungs working again in some cases.
