According to the owner, she is puppy pad trained (well, said almost) and is crate trained. She did fine in her crate last night and didn't have any accidents and didn't bark/whine, so that is a good start!
I had just typed out that she hasn't eaten or had any water since, but she just walked over to her bowl, drank a little and nibbled on a little food - just a little though.
Her previous owners must have let her jump on furniture like the sofa, coffee table, etc., so I'm trying to get her to stop that by putting her down and saying "Down" which seems to be working.
I am staying home with her for a couple of days to gradually get her used to staying in the bathroom by herself. We'll be gone from around 7:00 - 5:30 during the day M-F.
So, should I continue to just use puppy pads until she has that down before transitioning to outside? Will she get confused if I do both?
I'm sure I'll have more questions. I'll read up on what I can here. Seems like a nice place

I think that is too long for a puppy to be alone all day. Is someone going to take her out several times during the day? She will not be able to hold it that long if you are going to outside house train her. Puppies can generally only hold it for as many hours as they are old. 5 months would be a max of 5 hrs.
I have 4 yorkies- All outdoor trained. When not ill they don't potty in the house but they rarely have to hold it more than 4 hrs during the day but will hold it overnight.
Little dog = Little bladder.
