Default Second set of eyes

I have a Coton de tulear, 6 years old and has been healthy. She has had an episode of dehydration but other wise has been without any major issues. She started acting strange, hiding not wanting to be picked up, not eating, shaking and I took her to my vet who really didn't know if it was her stomach or back( she held herself so rigid he couldn't feel her belly or her back). She continued to be sick and not wanting to eat, shaking and generally not acting like herself. I took her back to the vet and he kept her over night did blood work took x-rays and sent her home not much better. He wanted to send her to a specialist but was unsure if it should be an orthopedic or internal medicine specialist. He gave me pain medicine to give her but I just was concerned that she still was not any better. After about a week I called the office again and took her back. We have now spent over $500.00 with no change in her condition and still no answers. The vet I took her back to was a different one, but in the same practice. She looked at her x-rays examined her and checked her blood work results. She had shown positive to Anaplasmosis but the first vet did not think that her symptoms pointed to that being her problem. The 2nd vet looked at that said "she" thought that that "was" the problem. She sent her home on doxycycline and within 12 hours she was a new dog. So I guess the moral of the story is to get a new set of eyes to check on an animal that just isn't getting better. The first vet has always been great taking care of my dogs but this one time it sure paid off to let someone else jump in to help. She's back to a healthy happy baby and her mom is so relieved.*
