Heh, well I'm sure as heck glad I never had to do it for Luma, because she would NOT tolerate that...some puppies don't mind it but I think my girl would try to get the tape off.
But yeah as long as you use masking tape or like medical tape it won't pull their hair out when you untape them. You can also try shaving the ear hair so the weight doesn't bring them down, and massaging the base of their ears could help exercise the muscles they need to strengthen to keep them up.
