I had a very interesting call from one of my puppy parents who told me a story about her boy that is almost a year old.
She said they were playing ball with the dog in the living room. After countless times of throwing the ball it rolled under the couch. The dog went behind the couch to retrieve it and they left the room for a few mins.
When they can back the dogs was no where to be seen and didn‘t come with they called his name.
They pulled out the couch and there laid the dog with an electric wire in his mouth DEAD. Her husband is a Dr and check the dog, he had no heartbeat. He started massaging the chest and she said it was about 45 mins before they located and got to an emergency vet. Her husband kept massaging the dogs chest the whole way and as they pulled in the vets the dog started to stir a little. The vet finish working on the dog and he came around.
Other then a scorched mouth the dog she said seems to have not suffered any ill effects.

The reason she called me is she wanted me to know what happened and to also pass along to others to not give up on a dog to soon when something like this happens.
Now, had this been someone else I would have thought the dog was just stunned but with her husband being a Dr. I’m sure he would know stunned from dead.
He did not do mouth to mouth just chest massage.

I do explain to all my puppy parents about the importance of keeping a close eye on dogs to guard against chewing electric cords but now will also tell them what to do if something like this does happen and it may just save the dogs life. I hope you too will pass this along in other groups, to your puppy buyers and any pet owners you may know !!
