Thank you so much for all your input. And I am sure you are all right.... after having the dogs at home for a few hours I knew rights away they were not socialized very well. From the way they behave I would say they were locked up until they were let out to breed. I am pretty sure the mom got more attention as she tends to listen more. I was able to change their names and have them come to their new names in only a matter of a day - so I think that speaks volumes for a set of dogs that are 3 and 4 years old!
Now, when I had my shih tzu... he had a series of shots before he turned 1 then had shots every year after that. These dogs came with a piece of paper with only 3 shot stickers on them. I really hope the vet can help out with the missing links.
Who knows if the birth dates are even correct. At this point I have no idea what I am going to do. I don't really want to just surrender the dogs and be out $3900 - I know that might sound heartless - but that is really a lot of money!
I have thought of maybe selling the male - and letting the new owners know he needs to be neutered. But right now everything is up in the air until I speak with my husband.
I do know that if we do keep these pups breeding is out of the question. I feel as though the mom has been bred way too much for her age. |
