I have a soft-sided pen (that I now keep in my car for use while I'm there with her, if we are visiting people). I don't kow if your girl is a chewer, but my ZoE would chew through the sides in minutes if left alone in it. Also, ours is an octagon shape and ZoE has flipped it on it's side, while she was inside it, and walked it around the room much like a hamster in a ball. Based on my experience with them, I wouldn't recommend the kind I have (pic below) for unsupervised confinement.
