We tried a step-in from YT and the Easy Walk. Love the idea of the Easy Walk, but besides the fact that she can get out of it, the mechanism in the front that tightens didn't work well for us because it's so small. I'm sure it would work better on a larger breed dog.

For my other dog - he could easily get loose. So he wears both a Roman style harness and a collar on walks. A coupler is attached to both. The shorter end of the copuler is attached to the harness and the longer end is attached to the collar. Then the leash is attached to the leash ring. So if he pulls, the harness gets pulled and not the collar. But if he slips his harness, the collar is still there for protection.
i have never had a problem with the step in vest harness.
