Hi everyone! I hope this is the right place to post an introduction. I have been lurking around, learning for a little while now. Just officially joined the group a few days ago.
We are prepping to adopt a yorkie. Right now we're waiting for the right rescue pup to come into our lives and getting the house ready for a new little one.
Anyway, just wanted to say hello. I still have lots of questions but hopefully the search feature will be my friend so that I'm not repeating old threads.
In the meantime, if anyone feels like answering some newbie questions:
---what was your crate/xpen/bed arrangement? Right now we have a soft side travel bag and an xpen. Is that good for a pup or do we need a true crate as well? I was thinking if we end up with a really young one, we could put the travel bag inside the xpen to make it cozy. Good idea or no?
---what are your dogs favorite treats? Want to have something good on hand so that training gets off to a good start.
---do you know of any info online regarding yorkie health. Specifically, DH is worried that a rescue dog will have lots of health concerns. So far he has polled 3 people he knows with yorkies and they all have some sort of "issue". I was hoping to ease his mind with some stats like only 3% of yorkies end up with diabetes or only 4% have ct.
Any help is appreciated and thanks for all of the super useful info I've already gathered around here.
