Default Need advice on potential liver shunt

Found blood in urine a couple of months ago. Turned out he had stones in his bladder. He had a cystotomy a few weeks ago. Analysis came back on the stone saying that it is a urate stone. He just had an acid bile test and shows very high levels before eating then after 2 hours. They are saying that it may be a liver shunt. All three of my dogs have been on a high protein diet (freeze dried raw combined with home cooking) since babies.
He is my olderst at 4.5 years old and never displayed symptoms that would lead me to think he had liver issues. He has had yearly check-ups and blood tests. Vet told me that he should have a scintigraphy or CT Scan to diagnose the condition properly. They told me that he would need to be anesthecized again (he had surgery a few weeks ago). I was referred by my vet to Animal Surgical & Emergency Hospital (in L.A.) as I need to see a specialist at this point. Which (scintigraphy or CT Scan) is less stressful if at all? Would love to hear advice or your experiences with similar matter.

Thanks.
