Hi! So much depends on your exact circumstances. I also live in Central Florida, do not have marble floors, but have a heavy overhang of 100-yr-old Oak trees which keep my house very chilly until about 2-3 pm. I wear long sleeves in the mornings in July and Aug, and do not even need AC until later in the afternoon and/or evening, especially since the ceiling fans run pretty much 24x7 thru the summer-y months. Since one of the biggest discomforts with Florida heat is the 'liquid air' when the humidity is so high you just about drown if your gills don't kick in the instant you step outside, and even if they do, you feel like you are in the steamer basket of a pot on the stove, even higher temps (low 80's) will feel cooler with AC
because the humidity is removed/lowered. I know lots of people who are very comfortable in their homes with the thermostat in the mid-80's, and their pets are comfortable as well. But you also have to take the dog into consideration, too. Some tolerate heat better than others or get colder more quickly/often and/or at higher temperatures than others.
I would suggest that you play with the temps on the weekend when you are home with your pup and see what feels comfortable
to him. Then, program your automatic thermostats accordingly.
Good luck...take care!
