You're probably right, I understand that she gave him one piece to see if he was hungry, but when she said "I would feed him until he stopped eating", I was thinking she was hand feeding.
I do want to say again, that at 13 weeks you don't want to deprive them of food, and sometimes a loss of appetite can ocur even when they need food desperately, that's why you should have food down all the time, or at least regular feedings 4 times a day, at that age.
