Default no potty overnight?

Ok experts...
Can my 8 week old yorkie mix (maltese yorkie) who weighs about 2 lbs now hold his urine overnight, if we take H20 away around 8pm?

Im asking because right now, in our room crated he wants to go potty about every 2 hours (and turns into play usually twice a night too), and when he is in the laundry room at night (laundry room gated is his room while we are at work during the day or have to leave him otherwise) he goes from 10pm-2am ish on average without peeing (then persists to whine and cry from then on for a while which is how i know he was up to use the pee pad). I am going to put him on my nightstand in his crate tonight, and wonder if I should get up with him when he whines in the night to take him pee, or just shush him. I can take him to the pee pad, no attention then back to crate, but then hes awake and doesnt settle easily, and we can only take the whining by our bed for so long.

Ideas?
