Bread/Panettone DANGERS Hmmm, speaking of toxic to dogs...my girlfriend Cocker/bichon mix (not purposely bred this way!) weight is 22lbs. got into a leftover stocking stuffer this morning...Panettone 3.5oz. ate the whole thing (she found the wrapper on the floor), he was shaking, panting and crying when she found him. Rushed him to the vets, xrays revealed the panettone bread had formed a ball and became a clump in his stomach that he couldn't digest and was causing a serious blockage. He is currently in surgery......
She called me because the vet told her that regular bread could cause this, and that they have seen it many, many, times. She called her vet when they opened and her vet went to see xrays etc., and agreed with the emergency vet.
Will keep you posted. Say a prayer for Petey...
