Yes, other types of distilled water work, but it's not easy to find distilled water that safe for drinking. Some distilled water is sold for appliances and it is be placed in plastic bottles that are not safe for drinking, and it will say this on the container. Before I found the Gerbers, I bought regular distilled water that was safe for drinking. The main difference in Gerber’s is that they have added a few minerals back, but not enough to bother the dog's eyes. After Joey reached the age of one, he didn't need the distilled water any more. There are many different reasons for excessive tearing, from food allergies to teething, so depending on what's causing the tearing, different solutions work. Lot's of people have had excellant results with the Gerber's water, and it safe and easy fix. I noticed a huge difference in Joey in one day, and I could tell in one day when my husband gave him regular water.
