Yes, it's a good idea to practice with the harness and leash inside so it's not a completely new concept when you do go out. First get her used to the harness and then attach the leash and let him pull it around behind him while you watch her.
Once her shots are all complete you can take her for a ride in the car or some sort of outing. You want her to be social and not afraid of people and animals but be really careful of who and what you expose her to. When she is comfortable with going outside put a little coat on her and take her out for a walk!
My eyes are always scanning the area for big dogs and kids because they tend to rush up to my little girl and scare the daylights out of me more than her. I figure you can't be too careful. All it takes is one incident to do some real damage. |
