She could be contained for her safety. Mine travel in harnesses in doggie car seats.

She is your vet can give you something for her anxiety. She may get motion sickness when in the car. Try keeping the window open some for increased air exchange. There are also meds for this too.

Make the car a nice place for her. Buddy used to get very nervous in the car when I got him 3 months ago. Now the car is like Disneyland to him. At least 95% of the time it takes him someplace nice- Petstore, training, park, etc.
