It is alot of work but its not a tremendous amount of money if you do it alot. We did it gradually one month we bought the pump and skimmer. Then next month the liner then the next month the rocks then the next month we rented a back hoe to put the big rocks in and hired a couple of neighborhood guys to help. It drove us a little nuts to do it that way because we just wanted it done but now we can look back and appreciate doing it that way because it didnt break the bank. If your yard is hillside it is the perfect place for a waterfall. Someone in my neighborhood has a hillside front yard and they put in a pondless waterfall and it is gorgeous and it adds alot of value to their house because it has curb side value to it
