When I got my Scotty(my first Yorkie) I did absolutely no research - just thought he was the cutest dog I had ever seen. Back in the day and in my circles of family and friends, research about dog breeds was unheard of except to talk to the dog breeder(Yorkie breeders were rare in Dallas back then) and there was precious little material easily available that I could find without having to take time off work during the day and go to the library. So, I just bought the puppy I liked and boy, am I glad that I did. I fell in love with the breed and Scotty inspired me to start to try to learn more about the breed and eventually I found a book all about Yorkies. It was by those two sisters who years back had a kennel and bred and showed Yorkies and I must have read that book through six or seven times I was so enthralled with their knowledge, wonderful information and stories! You could find an occasional short book about training. Later, of course, lots and lots of books and booklets, VHS tapes, and then all other types of media about Yorkies was easily available.
