I've gotten to the point that Tibbe lays in my lap and I hold one end of the chewie as he chews. That way I can really see if he is biting off a big portion to try to swallow, etc. And he is okay with my holding it for him. I do so enjoy watching him enjoy his chew - he gets such big fun and apparent satisfaction from it. Occasionally I will let him take a new one and move down to the end of the couch and chew a good while but once he get far enough along to start biting it through or trying to swallow, I move in and turn the other end to his mouth. He usually is so unhappy with that he just stops. But he get a bit of chew-fun on his own that way. Sounds fanatical and it is but the Jilly experience scare the absolute Willie's out of me and never want to see a dog ever have to go through what she did and coming so very near to losing her so I'm a fanatic.
