Ugh. Barking. Tallulah is four, and obedience training wasn't a total priority when she was a puppy because her health was a major concern at the time (she's a teacup, which is terrible, and it wasn't my choice, but this isn't the time for that story). We'll be doing obedience classes as soon as I have a job and can afford to pay for them, but here's my gripe...
As a pup, she used to spend a great deal of time with my grandma's dogs who barked at anything that passed the front window. Over time, she learned this behavior and now she's taught it to our other two dogs. It's a terrible habit and obnoxious (I've hit the point of annoyance where I'm fed up and don't even TRY anymore). We've tried techniques taught by both Victoria Stilwell and Cesare Milan, but NOTHING has worked.
In a few months, we'll be moving to a house where I'll have roommates and I want to take the time NOW to break this barking habit so she doesn't irritate anyone when we move. She's a sweet girl with a gentle disposition, but we need to curb the barking. Reprimand doesn't work, a tap on the nose with a single finger does nothing. I want to try a dog whistle at some point, but I was wondering if an expert on this could help me at all.
Please and thanks (:
