It seems like it would lose the ability to be a teeth cleaner if you did that. If you are going to use them you should be very aware of the symptoms of intestinal blockage. That would be pacing, vomiting, no bowel movements, sometimes and a special interest in water. They do not have to experience all the symptoms to have a blockage. I guess the main thing would be to make sure they are pooping every day. Can you hold it while they chew on it. When I'm holding Joey's bully sticks I can tell how much he's eating at one time.
