Teddy had a problem with UTIs and crystals. The best thing we did after treatment by the vet was to add liquids to his diet. I made him fresh chicken broth and removed the fat, because I did not want anything processed or too salty for him like store bought brands have. I diluted the soup and poured it on his food.
I do not agree with the use of cranberry supplements or cranberry juice as long term use of bladder acidifiers can lead to the formation of oxalate crystals which turn into oxalate stones that usually require surgery. Instead, I would treat the infection w/ antibiotics, culture the urine to make sure that it's gone, and add liquid to the diet in the form of fresh chicken broth as above. I've also used tuna juice in a pinch and diluted it.
Good luck.
