Try the black Extreme Kongs. My heavy chewers have not destroyed those. For soft toys, I make my own squares and bones out of polyester/cotton blend material with a tight weave (makes it more difficult to tear with teeth). I use premium stuffing from the fabric store and Kong squeakers from the pet stores. They aren't the cutest toys in the world, but my boys love them and can't destroy them.
My boys also do well with Ty Bow Wow Beanies for some reason. I am working on carrying these in my soon-to-open boutique.
Be careful with any kind of rope. You don't want your pup ingesting a bunch of string which can cause blockages. I'm sure you know, but supervise your pup with any toy and check toys frequently for damage.
